Training objectives

Training objectives

·        Developing the ability to interpret notations and symbols on technical drawings according to ISO  and ASME standards.

·        To learn to precisely apply GD&T requirements outlined in ISO and ASME standards.

·        To familiarise participants with additional requirements to increase geometric tolerances without affecting assembly conditions.

Scope and exercises

Programme and exercises

·        GPS - product geometric specification.

·        Structure of GPS standards.

·        Classification of dimensions.

·        GD&T - geometric dimensioning and tolerancing versus GPS.

·        Classification of geometric tolerances.

·        Symbolism of geometric tolerances.

·        GDT general tolerance:

·        for linear dimensions,

·        for angular dimensions,

·        determination of general tolerances.

·        Tolerating the free state.

·        Shape tolerances:

·        straightness,

·        flatness,

·        circularity,

·        cylindricality,

·        the shape of the designated outline (without bases),

·        the shape of the designated area (without bases).

·        Metrological traceability of shape deviations.

·        Bases: their types and base layouts.

·        Direction tolerances:

·        parallelism,

·        perpendicularity,

·        inclination.

·        Position tolerances:

·        position,

·        concentricity/coaxiality,

·        symmetry.

·        Tolerances of the designated shape-outline and the shape of the designated surface (with bases).

·        Run-out tolerances.

·        Conditions (rules) used in tolerating (MMC, LMC, RMC, EC).

 Exercises:

  • Examples of specifying the requirements on drawings.
  • Interpretation of the provisions of the GDT requirements.
  • Solving problems and tasks in teams, discussion.
  • Reading specification notes on technical drawings.
  • Interpretation of requirements with the maximum material condition.
  • Measurement of selected geometric tolerances (parallelism, run-out, etc.).
  • Calculation of permissible geometric tolerances.
